Your Questions
We wanted to share with you some great questions and things to think about when considering static caravan holiday home ownership
- The Park, Location Matters.📍The park's location is crucial. Choose a park within easy travel distance if you plan to visit regularly.
- Facilities. ⛳️🏊♀️ Assess the park's facilities. Are there too many or too few for your needs? Paying for unused amenities can add up, and insufficient recreational options might mean extra travel to keep the family entertained.
- The Caravan, considerations. 💷 Think about the caravan's price, age, features, and condition. Decide whether you want to buy new or second-hand. Many first-time buyers opt for a pre-owned model to save money and test the waters.
- Personal fit. ⚖️ Remember, it's not just about having the best caravan; it's about being on a park you love. Find a balance where costs are manageable, and you enjoy the lifestyle.
- The ongoing expense. 🧐 While owning a holiday caravan is a great getaway, consider ongoing costs:
- Pitch Fee: Determine the pitch fee and what it covers.
- Utilities: Check if electricity and water are included and how they are billed.
- Insurance: Find out if insuring the holiday home is straightforward.
- Additional Fees: Inquire about any other charges and when they need to be paid.
- The Importance of a Written Agreement. 🛑 Since holiday caravan owners aren't covered by the Mobile Homes Act (1983), ensure you have a written agreement covering pitch fees and tenure.
- Clarity is key. 🔑 The agreement should be easy to understand. Don't rely on a handshake; get everything in writing to confirm your rights and responsibilities before making any payments.
- Long term commitment. 💍 Buying a holiday caravan is a long-term commitment, so carefully review the agreement governing your pitch occupation. Understand every detail and get a copy of the contract for thorough review before finalising your decision.
